By pressing down the outer ring on top of the cylindrical drum, you can produce smoke rings which climb up to 10 metres into the air. We used a standard fog machine with fog fluid, augmented by a sensor system which detects use and ensures that there is always enough fog for good smoke rings.
The mechanical systems are designed to withstand the particularly hard
conditions prevailing at trade shows, as the exhibit was built for the
Adam Opel AG for use at motor shows
throughout Europe. We have since built a second exhibit for use by General
Motors in Asia.
