The movement of the continental plates over the last 600 million years is shown in steps of 5 million years. The Animation showing the drift of the continents was created by Concepts Plus using data from many sources. The Data is increasingly sketchy and the experts vary considerably the further back one goes, however, we have tried to be as accurate as possible, with a view to communicating the tendencies clearly.

Users can choose to run the animation automatically, or in a more interactive version, using the left trackball to set a particular year. The right trackball controls the options in the menu list, for example; whether or not the plate names are displayed on the continental plate animation.

In interactive mode text and images are used to try to give each of the ages a context, thereby helping the visitors to understand the huge time periods involved and which other events were occurring on the earth at the same time. Built in 1999, for the Technical Museum, Vienna.

We offer a QuicktimeVR preview of 100 Million years at on-line exhibits..
