The "Power Converter" demonstrates loosely Boyle´s
Law in a Gas. A wooden ball, the size of a bowling ball, is fitted into
a glass tube an can be hauled up by visitors. When it is released, it
forces the air under the ball into the connecting tube and thence into
the smaller tube where a tennis ball waits. The tennis ball is then
shot up the tube and into the air.
With a wooden ball movement of less than 1 meter, the tennis ball can
reach up to 9 meters in the air. A funnel made of net catches the tennis
ball on the way down and guides it back into it's tube. Built in 2000,
for: Science Center Universum, Bremen.
